This poster was for an assignment on designing a poster for an advocacy group. I chose PEN CANADA, non-profit organization whose intent is to defend the freedoms of writers who have been oppresed or persecuted for their literary works (and silenced from their freedom of expression). The poster design deals with the risk of a writer's freedom to express themselves; to feed your hand to the sharks. A literary piece that is open to (any kind of) scrutiny. NOTE: I usually don't mention of music as an inspiration. The songs Intro (part 1 and 2) from the Howard Hello/Greeness EP played an important factor in the creation of this work. Give it a listen. |
